Neuromodulators work by temporarily relaxing the muscles responsible for fine lines and wrinkles, resulting in smoother skin. Regular touch-up treatments can help maintain desired results. Neuromodulators can also be used preventatively to minimize the progression and formation of fine lines and wrinkles. By inhibiting the muscle contractions that cause wrinkles, these treatments can help delay the onset of lines and creases, allowing for a more youthful appearance over time. Results can be seen within a few days to a week and can last anywhere from three to six months. In addition to treatment of fine lines and wrinkles, neuromodulators are approved by the FDA for other conditions such as excessive under arm sweating (hyperhidrosis), and clenching of the jaw (TMJ).
